my name is nyla.

medicine woman. poet. sister. student of Life.

Six years ago I began to walk the path already carefully etched out for me since I was a little girl.

I was at my whit’s end. I couldn’t look myself in the mirror and my mind ran my life. I needed help and had exhausted most of the options I had available to me.

I ventured out and began to search for myself. I didn’t know where I would end up. I just knew there were a few places, people, and ideas that kept pulling me. my soul began to lead me on my path and I began to follow.

I had my first introduction to shamanic ritual and plant medicine at 19 and never looked back. I was lovingly  (not always gently) held by the plants and their teachings. I studied sacred Mantras, the ways of many masters who walked before me, nonwestern herbalism, and energetic healing. I used every tool at my disposal to best form a relationship with myself and the world around me.

the path has been tumultuous, unpaved, and windy. but i wouldn’t trade it for the world.

In December of 2017, I ventured to West Africa and underwent my formal initiation. Here I was supported in arriving into my role as a true medicine woman—a lifelong field of study. I studied the mind, became deeply familiar with the soul, and sharpened my natural ability to work with the physical body. My time in the village forged me into the woman I am today.

Much of the work i do naturally emulates the supportive, transformative, affirming, and deeply healing environment of the traditional village.

I weave my experience with healing work together with the ancestral wisdom shared through the lineage of medicine women and healers that came before me to provide services straight from my soul.

My approach to healing is rooted in addressing any severed or damaged connections with our souls, our inner children, Nature, and our ancestry. I aim to provide services that empower our community to take their healing, their shadows, and their lives into their own hands as creator of their own destinies.

As of September 2021 I will begin a doctorate program in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. my emphasis will be in Women’s health and postpartum care. I’m blessed and grateful to continue to bolster my skills as a healer via this ancient, trusted modality of healing.

Thank you for visiting and reading!

Bassé. (“Truth”, a traditional Bwiti greeting.)
